Jason Day has become a house hold name in Australia and the world after he became the youngest person to win on the US PGA Tour. Day who is 22 years old arrived on the US PGA Tour 2 years ago and was tipped as the next big thing in golf. Unfortunately Day, who had grown up in a modest home, was instantly exposed to the wealth that comes with golfing success and admits that he put his golfing on cruise control while he experienced a life that many only dream of. After two years in the golfing wilderness Day had returned to concentrating on this golf game and at 22 years old has become the youngest Australian winner on the US PGA with his 2 shot win in the Byron Nelson Championship in Texas US.
Before the tournament Day had began to work solidly on this shot making and his game which was in need of some good solid practice. The other thing that Day also had to work on was dismissing the negative thoughts that he was continually having about his game.
The Four Seasons TPC was a chance to show the golf world that Day was back on track and he managed to secure the win after averting a last hole disaster. Day described the win as not pretty but a win nun the less.
After this win on the tour Day is now able to play in next year’s Masters as well as getting a start in all the tour tournaments through to 2012. Day’s current situation is looking much brighter than it has for the last 2 years with a large winner’s cheque and an improved game Day basically has the world at his feet.
Away from golf Day has married his long time partner Ellie and has settled down with properties in Australia as well as a home near Fort Worth in the US. Many golfing commentators still predict that Day will do big things in golf over the next couple of years with his hard fought win at Texas showing that he has matured and can play great golf when the world is watching.
