So as I sit here on a Saturday night thinking about golf, I’m wondering about music. Here’s a quick test: Would you rather attend a music festival headlined by:
A. The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and Bob Dylan
OR
B. Coldplay, The White Stripes and Beck.
If you said "A," it’s a reminder that classic rock & roll hasn’t yet been trumped by a newer, albeit talented, generation. It also says that you’re probably of a certain age where a golf leaderboard with the names Watson, Langer and Norman holds more interest that one with Sean O’Hair, Anthony Kim and Mike Weir.
The upshot of this is that, all things being equal, and my Sunday (non-major, height-of-summer) golf television time limited at two hours, I think I’ll be tuning in early to the final round of the Senior Open Championship from Royal Troon. Of course, if we are going to mention the Stones, it’s hard not to dedicate a song to Greg Norman. Come Sunday night, he’ll either be singingI Can’t Get No SatisfactionorYou Can’t Always Get What You Wantor (on a happier note)Time Is On My SideorGet Off of My Cloud.– Robert Lohrer
